How I modernised SpeakUp Now's platform architecture to unlock faster product delivery
SpeakUp Now is an AI-driven SaaS solution that empowers organisations and businesses to cultivate stronger workplace cultures by encouraging candid workplace conversations. The platform provides a suite of tools for both employees and employers — built around encrypted, confidential communication.
By the time they came to us, the product was real, the customer base was growing, and the roadmap was ambitious. The problem wasn't the vision. It was the engineering foundations underneath it.

The Problem
SpeakUp Now's platform had been built fast to capture early market momentum — which is the right call at the start. But fast-built monolithic platforms accumulate technical debt quickly. As the team grew and the feature roadmap expanded, the codebase became a bottleneck:
Adding a new feature risked breaking existing ones
Different teams were working in the same codebase and stepping on each other
Deployments were slow and high-risk
Scaling the team didn't mean scaling the output — more engineers didn't mean faster delivery
The architecture needed to change — but it needed to change without stopping product development. You can't shut down a growing SaaS platform to refactor it.
What I did
Designed and integrated a micro-frontend architecture across the SpeakUp Now platform — breaking the monolith into 14+ independently deployable modules without disrupting live users or halting feature development.
Each micro-frontend owned its own domain of the product — its own codebase, its own deployment pipeline, its own team. Changes in one module couldn't break another. Features could be developed, tested, and shipped in parallel across teams. The platform could scale horizontally as the team grew.
This is technically delicate work. Micro-frontend integration done wrong creates more complexity than it solves — shared state management, consistent design systems across modules, and orchestration all have to be handled carefully. Done right, it transforms how a product team operates.
Result
SpeakUp Now went from a single codebase bottleneck to a modular platform where features could be developed and shipped independently. Faster delivery, reduced deployment risk, and a foundation that could actually support the growth they were planning.
